Feeding guide

How many Treatos can I give per day?

Treatos are meant as a treat or supplement, not a complete diet. Treats should make up no more than 10% of your pet’s daily calories.

It depends on your pet’s size, age, and activity level. Use this as a guideline:

  • Small dogs (<25 lbs): 1–2 pieces daily
  • Medium dogs (26-70 lbs): 2–4 pieces daily
  • Large dogs (25+ kg): 4–6 pieces daily

  • Kittens (under 1 year): 1–3 small pieces per day.
  • Adult cats (8–12 lbs): 2–5 pieces per day.

Adjust based on appetite, activity, and any other food your pet consumes.

Can Treatos replace a meal?

No. Treatos are not a complete diet and should not replace balanced meals. They are designed to support raw, fresh, or high-quality diets with natural chews and treats.

Can I give my cat freeze-dried treats every day?

Yes! Cats thrive on prey-like diets. Our freeze-dried treats are single-ingredient, making them safe for daily use as long as they do not exceed 10% of daily caloric intake.

Can I feed multiple proteins at once?

We recommend introducing proteins one at a time to monitor for sensitivities or allergies. Once your pet adjusts (or is already raw fed), you can feed variety.

Do I need to rehydrate freeze-dried treats?

For a softer texture, you can soak freeze-dried treats in warm water for 1–2 minutes. Dogs and cats both enjoy them this way, and it’s especially helpful for senior pets.

What if my pet has never had raw or air-dried treats before?

Start slow. Offer one small piece, then wait a day to see how their stomach reacts. Introduce gradually over a week.

My dog tends to swallow things whole. Are the chews safe?

Always supervise. Get to know your dogs chewing style and let us know when you customize their box.

Can my cat eat the dog Treatos?

Some yes, some no. Buzzy (my cat) loves to crunch on air-dried organs. If you would like to try some, just add it to the notes during your customization and I will throw in a sample.

Are Treatos safe for puppies and kittens?

Yes, of course! We will customize the boxes for them so that the Treatos are safe for their little teeth and bellies.

Do I need to refrigerate Treatos?

No. Freeze-dried and air-dried treats are shelf-stable as long as they’re stored in a cool, dry place up to 60 days.

Where do your ingredients come from?

Single-ingredient, no fillers, sourced directly from Alberta farms. We partner with small, regenerative farms practicing sustainable agriculture, all provincially and/or federally inspected. Each treat is naturally preserved using methods like freeze-drying or air-drying to lock in nutrients and freshness. Every treat includes a QR code linking to detailed farm information and processing notes for full farm-to-bowl transparency.

What does “naturally preserved” mean?

Our treats are preserved without artificial additives, chemicals, or preservatives. We use methods like freeze-drying and air-drying right here in Alberta to lock in nutrients, flavor, and freshness. This way, your pet gets treats that are safe, healthy, and retain the natural goodness of the ingredients. Processing takes 48-150 hours depending on the treat type to maintain maximum nutrition.

Are your treats safe for pets with allergies?

Yes! All treats are single-ingredient with complete transparency. This makes them perfect for elimination diets and pets with food sensitivities. You can easily customize your box with allergies/preferences on the product page.

How long does a chew last?

That depends on the chew and your dog's chewing style. Some chews are designed to last multiple sessions. Let your dog work on it, then take it away and store it for next time.

Is my dog able to digest fur and bones?

Yes, when prepared properly, most dogs can safely digest both fur and bones. Fur acts as a natural source of fiber, supporting gut health and helping clean the digestive tract. Bones, when gently air-dried, provide calcium, phosphorus, and natural dental benefits. Dogs are natural scavengers, and their systems are designed to handle these parts of the animal. That said, every dog is unique. Always supervise chewing, introduce new treats slowly, and if you’re unsure, ask us or your trusted veterinarian before feeding.

My dog ate the whole chew in one sitting. Should I be worried?

Some large dog breeds are natural chewers and will definitely eat a whole chew in one sitting. All chews are digestible as they are natural. However, if your dog ate something too large for their size or you’re concerned, contact your vet immediately.

What if my pet doesn't like a treat?

We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If your pet doesn't love something, contact us and we'll provide replacements or credits for future boxes. Your pet's happiness is our priority. Refer to our Refund Policy for more information.

Can humans eat these treats?

No, treats are intended for pets only. Although our ingredients are sourced from provincially and/or federally inspected Alberta farms, human consumption is not advised.

Who should I ask if I’m unsure about feeding something?

If you’re ever in doubt, check with us or your trusted veterinarian.
